We just returned home after a marvelous week at Marifield House B&B in Victoria BC. This delightful B&B situated in the historic James Bay area is in a perfect location within walking distance to the downtown and inner harbour near many attractions such as the Museum of British Columbia with the IMAX theatre.||The room we stayed in was very clean with a comfortable queen size bed as well as two comfy chairs and a table. The ensuite bathroom has a very large walk in shower with double sinks. The whole home is kept immaculate!||David is a wonderful host who shared his knowledge with us about the history of the area. We are currently reading an excellent book he wrote about the history of the home and the surrounding area (Victoria’s Past, The View from Marifield House). ||We enjoyed a delicious breakfast each day overlooking the beautiful floral gardens with humming birds fluttering around their favorite flowers. Each day David prepared an amazing breakfast, which included a variety of fresh fruit, omelettes with fresh vegetables as well as eggs Benedict, scones and croissants. Very appetizing with wonderful presentation.||In the evening we looked forward to a complementary tea or coffee in the relaxing quest sitting room where we could read or access the free WiFi on our cell phone or iPad.||Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to meet David's wife Toshie, as she was away visiting family, but maybe next time!||Thanks again David for a most enjoyable stay at your lovely B&B.

My husband and I spent two lovely nights at Marifield House, which is just a few blocks from the city center. David and Toshie were wonderful hosts, and the house is immaculate and serene. Breakfasts were delicious both mornings. We also recommend the James Bay Inn for dinner--it's close by and a good option after a long day of sightseeing.

This is my second visit to the lovey Marifield House. Not only is it wonderful value, but it’s very relaxing/peaceful and the gardens are gorgeous. I first stayed in March 2018, along with my mother. I just returned from a 4-day stay and Marifield House was even better than I remembered! I’ve now stayed in both room 1 & 2 and both are well-appointed, comfortable spaces. Toshie and David are wonderful hosts; they manage to balance being exceedingly professional while still welcoming us like family. I enjoyed our daily conversations about local history and the beautiful nature around Victoria. The best part of each day was breakfast. Toshie serves elegant, delicious meals. Waffles, crepes, eggs Benedict, etc! Beautifully carved fruit, yogurt, coffee and juice accompanied each meal. She even was able to accommodate my celiac mother’s strict gluten free diet. I’ve already booked my room for next year’s trip and I can’t wait to return.

I stayed in Room 1 at this beautiful, historic Bed and Breakfast. My room was very clean, spacious and well appointed. It included a very comfortable queen sized bed, two wing chairs, table, desk and TV. Free internet was included. My large windows opened to the lush garden grounds and Government Street. The room had a very large bathroom with a huge shower, closet and double sinks. The toilet and sink were in a separated space within the room. The hosts, Toshie and David made me feel so welcome on arrival. They continued to be present on occasion for conversations while still providing me with lots of privacy. The breakfasts were substantial and different each morning. They included a tasty hot entree, coffee, fresh orange juice and fruit with yogurt. The fresh fruit was cut into beautiful shapes like a strawberry rose or swan apple slices. Toast or fresh croissants were part of the meal. My hosts catered to my vegetarian diet. The house itself is a work of art, beautifully renovated while maintaining the style of the original house. The guest lounge on the main floor has complementary tea and coffee to be enjoyed in the cozy room by the fireplace. I was particularly fortunate as a tiny hummingbird had built her nest in a tree at the front of the house. The location of this house is ideal for walking along the waterfront, exploring Beacon Hill Park or enjoying the historic Inner Harbour and downtown Victoria. This special place is one I will definitely visit again.

The James Bay location is fantastic for walking or driving to anywhere in Victoria. Close to parks, harbour, museum, legislative buildings, shoreline, restaurants and pubs. Lovely clean historic house with fantastic hosts!||The rooms offer options well suited to singles, couples, children or travellers who want separate beds. Beds were very comfortable and rooms had lots of natural light. The bathroom in the room we took had a double sink and his and hers showers. There was a small table and chairs right in the room. ||The common guest living room and dining area were also very inviting. Windows overlooking the flowers and quiet tree-lined street. ||Breakfast included fresh homemade croissants, fruit, yogurt, and then a main course like eggs or waffles. Coffee at breakfast was made with fresh ground coffee and tea is available to make for yourself anytime. ||Highly recommend staying here!

My daughter and I stayed at Marifield about a year ago, and this past weekend, we went back to this charming and cozy B&B. It was wonderful to find everything unchanged... Toshie & David's warm welcome, well-kept rooms, fantastic breakfast, particularly homebaked croissants that we loved so much, all the other positive features mentioned by the past reviewers, and even the room rate while the visitor numbers and the property values in the area are rising crazily. This is an ideal place if you are seeking out a "Canadian life" experience, close to a homestay, in addition to this lovely place, Victoria, can offer to all visitors.
