Humboldt House Bed & Breakfast en Victoria

Perfectly positive experience; we'd go back. We booked the Oriental Room as a one night getaway from kids and Humboldt House delivered! Our room was lovely and spacious with sunken jacuzzi tub, and king bed. It was quiet and was the therapy we were long overdue. There was even a CD player with a small selection of music - nice touch. Breakfast delivered to your room is a treat and just what you really want. The food was delicious and more than enough. You have key to your room and you can come/go as you wish. Its walking distance to most things downtown and they provide parking.

We loved the quaint home and our beautiful room, Oriental. Sunken Jacuzzi tub with hand-held shower was very nice for someone who's spent the past five years without a bathtub! Location is perfect for walking to points of interest, shopping and many dining choices. On-site parking is a plus since street parking always appears full. Breakfasts are served thru a "Magic Cupboard" at a set time based on a sign-up sheet in the entrance. One room every 20 minutes gets you hot food attractively prepared and delicious. There are 3 breakfast choices daily. Since it's a Historical home, no |a/c but with windows open it was very comfortable. A bit of street noise but nothing significant. Close to the Harbour so seagulls can be heard. If steps are a problem, request a ground floor room. We loved our first visit to Victoria. And DON'T miss Butchart Gardens!!

This gem of an old house appealed to my wife and I from the outside; the spacious room with its own private lounge/ dining area and large ensuite bathroom exceeded our expectations as did the whole interior decor. We were met in a most welcoming manner by a very helpful manager.The delicious, copious breakfast, superbly presented in a basket and served punctually through a discreet hatch was a highlight on each of the two days we spent at Humbolt House. Centrally located, In a remarkably quiet location, within walking distance of the City centre, the Harbour, the Royal BC Museum, The Legislative Assembly, shops and restaurants, this exceptional B&B will not disappoint as a port of call.

We stayed two nights in the Oriental room. The room had an authentic oriental decor, comfortable bed and good spa. Beautiful view over the large neighboring property. Breakfast served in the room through a cupboard. We had yoguhrt with musli & fruit as well as quiche. Both were fine, without being outstanding. So good B&B, but without the last personal touches.

Whilst we were initially very impressed with our room, which was beautiful, there were lots of issues we didn't love.||No aircon was a real problem, as the temperature in Victoria was 27/28c. Not having a proper shower was very impractical too - we had a handheld shower attachment in a sunken bath only.||We also found that having no contact with hosts/staff at either check in, during our stay or on checking out, was a wee bit strange. ||The breakfast is served at a set time, through a hatch into your room, so no conract then, and you have to make you choices on a sheet in the hallway the night before. ||||Overall, we think it would suit many people. The room was very impressive, but practically, it wasn't ideal for us.

Stayed here for 2 nights in June and was blown away by the place! Breakfast (3 choices) was superb and delivered in a basket. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room had a great jacuzzi. Short walk to the Inner Harbour. Phenomenal experience, would highly recommend!

Had a really lovely stay in the Mikado room. The B & B is very peaceful and quiet, and in an excellent location. Our breakfasts arrived, expertly packed and still hot, in a basket. You get a choice of four options; I enjoyed the fruit crepes. The truffles were delicious too. I would have purchased a box but it was very warm on the day we left and I was afraid they'd melt on the journey home.

This was our first time in this place, and they definitely managed to surprise us. First, the rooms - the decor is really nice and smooth, and sets the atmosphere properly as it should. We stayed in the Oriental room, but took a peek in others that were free, and they all are great. The furnishings are nice too, a great bed and jacuzzi for two! It also had a real fireplace all set up and ready to go, though we skipped on that part. Everything else that we expected to find was there. Morning breakfast was absolutely superb. A nice touch is that it's delivered to the room via the food elevator after a gentle knock on the door, so at no point your privacy is violated, and you can enjoy it at your leisure. All in all, it's a flawless place to stay if you're looking for a romantic and private atmosphere, discreet and courteous staff (thanks, David!), and all that for a very reasonable price. Definitely highly recommended. Oh, one more thing. The prices on their website don't always match the real ones - try starting the online reservation booking process, you'll see the real price for the date you selected. In our case, it was $40 lower than on the website!
